Undeterred by the rain, a small group of loyal Leighton House members took advantage of the opportunity to learn about the Holland Park Artists Houses. Once farm land the area was transformed after the mid 19th century when a colony of successful and prominent Victorian artists, including Frederic Leighton, built Studio houses in a mix of eclectic architectural styles. The inclement weather did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of our knowledgeable guide and neither masks or umbrellas or keeping safely distanced hampered the pleasure of participating once again in group activity. I remain hopeful that despite restrictions it will be possible to arrange similar walks in the coming months.
